PLAYSTATION 5 Release DATE POSTPONED
PlayStation (PS5) official release date slated for tomorrow 4th June 2020 at
4PM American standard time, this event was supposed to be a gathering to
celebrate and unveil the latest Sony PlayStation 5. 
Unfortunately, the much-anticipated release date has been postponed due to
the current crisis (precisely the
#BlackLivesMatter protests)Â that has outrun the United States of
America.
This message was officially announced by PlayStation on Twitter that the
Mega event scheduled for Thursday, June 4th, 2020, has been canceled
due to the several unrests around several American cities caused by the
death of George Floyd who died in the hands of a White Cop in Minneapolis
after being "brutally" handled.
The statement reads;
We decided to postpone the PS5 event from June 4. While we understand that you are anxious to see PS5 games, we think this is not the right time for that. For now, we are stepping back to allow more important voices to be heard.
PlayStation foresees that the protest would have a negative impact on the number of people that will be attending its live PlayStation 5 release. As at the time this article was written, a new date for the PlayStation 5 release has not been announced.

that gamers should not expect the new date to be announced anytime soon if
the protest continues to increase across the United States.
Recall that Google had earlier canceled its launch event, Electronic Arts
(EA) also canceled the launch of its new game "Madden NFL" today.

PS 5 To Support Backward Compatability
Microsoft recently announced that the future Xbox Series X will have
backward compatibility to support games from older Xbox consoles (Xbox, Xbox
360, and Xbox One). The American gaming giants revealed that thousands of
games on earlier Xbox consoles will be playable on the Xbox Series X
console. This announcement puts Microsoft's Xbox a step ahead of Sony's
PlayStation when it comes to compatibility with older games.
In the past, Sony had offered backward compatibility with PS1 games when
the PS2 was released. However, things got complicated with backward compatibility when the PS3 was released. The PS3Â 60 GB model which was
sold at $672, was compatible with PS1 and PS2 games but Sony then decided to
end PS2 backward compatibility, thus only PS1 games were supported on
PS3.
Then the PS4 was released with many anticipating its backward
compatibility, sadly, Sony did not add this feature, and to make matters
worse they DVD medium was removed.
PS5 backward compatibility
Although the PS5 release date has been canceled, there are still several
questions regarding its backward compatibility. Although the PS5 will
support this feature, it will only support a selection of PS4 games (PS3,
PS2 & PS1 games won't be supported).
According to reports, Sony had recently demanded that games from
development studios be PS5 compatible. Thus most games published on or
after July 13 should be compatible with the PS5.
The big question on everyone's mind remains "What will happen to the
several games already released on the PS4?" Although we have confirmed
that games such as Ghost of Tsushima and the Last of Us 2, will be
compatible with PS5, we expect Sony to also take similar actions on
Games like God of War, GT Sport, Unchartered,
Bloodborne, etc.) work on the PS5 console.
