Hidden camera smartphone will soon be a reality
Chinese manufacturer Huawei is rumored to be working on releasing smartphones with front cameras hidden under the screen. How do they plan on achieving such a futuristic feat in 2020?Â
This will be done by placing the sensor under a part of the screen that becomes transparent when you want to take a photo. Wow, who could have thought of this being a possibility anytime soon?
Most new smartphones being released today have a "borderless"
screen, but for these devices to have a front camera, manufacturers must
be creative.Â
The most common solution is the scree notch like first see on the
iPhone, which allows the smartphone manufacturer to place the selfie
camera and other sensors on the front.Â
But there are also smartphones with a pop-up camera like the OnePlus 7,
which has its sliding mechanisms, as well as the holes drilled on the
screen.
Soon rather than later, we could also see devices being launched with
the front camera placed under the screen, the camera on these
smartphones will not be visible on the screen. The idea in this involves
placing the sensor at a part of the screen that can become transparent
when the camera is being used.
Two Chinese manufacturers, including Xiaomi, have already announced that
they are developing this solution. Samsung is also rumored to soon be releasing a smartphone model with
the front camera hidden beneath the screen.Â
Trybeweb recently learned that in a bid to become the first smartphone
brand to release such a breakthrough feature, Huawei would be working on
this feature as well.Â

Phones With Hidden Camera On The Screen, A future trend?
These devices would have curved edges covering the screen. But the most
interesting thing is that there won't be a notch or hole on the screen
for the front camera, which suggests that this sensor could be
integrated into the screen.
The two models are almost identical but have different camera specs on the back. It could, therefore, be two versions of the same model.
But of course, at the moment, these are just rumors and assumptions.
Therefore, this information is still to be considered as unofficial
rumors. In addition, companies like Huawei are not using all the
intellectual-property they have, we have reasons to believe that these
companies are withholding the release of some major features for years
to come.
What is certain is that the front cameras hidden under the screen
could be released at any time, and would rapidly become a new trend in
the smartphone market.
